Hunt Story

We'd been seeing bucks chasing does all week all over the property. This is the prime week for us to see rutting bucks on our club. Just after daylight, I heard grunting in the bottom below me and several does came by just after daylight. Around 10 minutes after the does left, I could smell a buck close by since the wind was blowing in my face from the bottom. At 9:05 am, my buck came out directly in front of me from the bottom. We have strict rules for harvesting bucks, so I looked at him closely before deciding to shoot. He turned and began walking to my left approximately 60 yards away. I put the crosshairs exactly where my husband had told me to (just behind the shoulder, middle of the chest cavity) and fired. He fell immediately and ran about 20 yards and fell again. I waited on my husband to arrive and I climbed down and went to see my deer. After some celebration, we took pics and loaded him up in our UTV. He is the biggest deer we've taken on the property in the 16 years we have hunted there.
