Hunt Story
With tons of trail-camera pictures over the summer, I had an encounter with this deer on opening weekend. I couldn't close the deal. For the rut, this deer just disappeared. He's been showing up on my trail-camera during the day for three days. I decided to go this morning and climbed up in my stand. As soon as light cracked, a 2-year-old was chasing a doe in front of me. He startled me. As I was watching the young buck chase the doe, the larger buck started walking toward the young buck to chase him off. I stopped him at 20 yards with my bow. I put a perfect heart shot on him. He ran about 40 yards and fell in the creek!
