Hunt Story

I arrived around 4:30 for my hunt as the weather was turning, and I thought that the deer would likely be moving. I didn't see anything but squirrels for the first hour, but I heard movement to my left and saw a doe moving to the food plot at 5:40. She walked around eating and became entertained watching her. In this stand, I had never seen a buck larger than a 6-point, but I have trail-cam pics of some good deer. After 5 minutes, I caught a glimpse of movement to my left. When I turned my head, the buck was at 10 yards. As I raised my gun, it made a sound and the deer stared at me for at least a minute. When he turned back to the doe, I finished shouldering the rifle and immediately took the shot. The deer jumped straight into the air from his hind feet before running 8-10 steps before he crashed just out of my sight. I knew the shot was good and heard the crash, so I climbed down and immediately saw the deer. I was elated as this is the biggest deer I have ever shot, not to mention a fine deer taken off of my small plot of land.
