Hunt Story

I have been watching this buck for a while and I was able to triangulate his movements to put myself in the best position to harvest him. I hunted him Saturday morning to no avail, went shopping with my wife that afternoon instead of deer hunting like all good husbands should do (secretly hoping it would bring me luck and it bought me some time to research his movements even more) and then hunted him again Sunday morning in a slightly different spot. The strategy seems to have paid off as I was fortunate enough to bag him in a new food plot between our barn and our pecan orchard first thing Sunday morning! From the time I saw him on this hunt until the time he was on the ground was about 15 seconds. Even though I was using my .270, it all happened so fast that it felt like I was shooting a decoying duck with my shotgun! Great animal and I’m very thankful to have harvested him.
