Hunt Story

After only receiving one set of trail camera photos of this buck one week prior to bow season, he has not shown up on any trail cameras since. Assuming that the buck had moved on to another location I proceeded to hunt this location anticipating another mature buck to move into the area. On the evening of 9/27 the wind was right for this location, so I decided to give it a shot. Even though I only had young bucks and does on my trail camera, I knew that a mature buck could move in or just be passing threw at any time. At around 7:15 p.m. a young 8-pointer with good potential and a spike start to feed working in my direction after filming them for a short moment this buck suddenly appears in front of me at 16 yards. Self filming a hunt can be challenging especially when you have three bucks at less than 20 yards and your bow is still on the hanger! To my advantage and with some help from God the wind was right and their guard was down so that I was able to make the shot. Every encounter with a mature whitetail is special and I am very grateful for this harvest!
