After seeing him but not being able to get a shot on him early Friday morning I snuck back into the stand around 5:30. It was a cool overcast afternoon with little to no wind, perfect conditions. Around sunset I heard walking behind my stand and I became real still hoping he’d come into sight. To my surprise the walking got louder and I saw two bucks in a bachelor pair out of the corner of my eye and my heart began to pound. I’d seen both this morning and now they’d entered the food plot. I raised my crossbow with the bigger 10-point broadside to me about 20 yards out and made a perfect shot behind the shoulder. The buck ran maybe 50 feet before crashing. After years of chasing I finally killed my first buck and I couldn’t of asked for better conditions, everything finally came together.
