Hunt Story
I was hunting with my son Matthew Saturday evening in a ladder stand over looking a clearcut. We saw a doe come out to our left and start feeding a little after five. She fed around for 30 minutes or so when when two spikes walked out in front of us about 100 yards away. The two fed around for five minutes or so before walking up the wood line straight away from us. I looked to my left where the doe was still feeding and saw a button buck walk out, and behind him was a cull buck that had 4 points on one side and a spike with a fork on the other. We had a lot of pictures of him, so I wanted him to take this buck. He walked behind a brushpile in the clearcut and we could not see him, as we waited for him to come out I looked out in front of me and saw a deer walk out about 125 yards away. This deer was a nice a 8-point, and we moved into position to take him instead. We watched him feed for 3 to 4 minutes before he could get a broadside shot. He had trouble finding him in his scope, so I gave him my .308 and he got on him and when he pulled the trigger the buck dropped. He was very excited, this was his first racked buck and he made a very good shot to get him to boot.
