Hunt Story
I call this deer "Nanny" because my wife said if I killed this deer she would let me hang it up in future kids room. I got a shot at him last year. I was not feeling good, so decided to sit on the ground. A doe busted me, and I started feeling worse (ended up having Covid) so I stood up and he was standing at 20 yards. I pulled back and flung an arrow 2 feet over his back. This year he was my target buck. I had several trail-cam photos of him and had only had one encounter from a distance. It was 40 degrees, wind swirling and I see him coming to check out a doe at 7:30 a.m. He knew something was not right (probably got my wind) so I pulled back quickly and made an awful shot on him. I did however see blood squirting out, so there was a little hope. I gave him a few hours and went back out to find an incredible blood trail and the buck on 50 yards from where I found him. He's my biggest buck to date!
