Hunt Story

At about 5 p.m. I had a doe come in and start eating white oak acorns in front of me at about 15 yards. After watching her feed around for 30 minutes, I was getting tired of trying to remain frozen standing with my bow in my hands. She was so close I was afraid she would see me if I moved at all. Then from behind my left side I could hear a lot of commotion and what sounded like a deer bleat and a deer walking up to me from the creek below me. A few seconds later the buck showed himself from the thicket at 20 yards broadside. I drew my bow as he was focused on the doe still feeding in front of me and released, making a good double-lung shot. He ran about 100 yards before piling up.
