Hunt Story
I joined a Hunting Club called Twin Oaks Hunting Club this year. I have been on a waiting list for several years. It is a well known club in Hillsboro, Ga. for growing big bucks. There has been a buck named White Sox's that has been caught on camera but never seen while hunting. Three years of camera pictures and found sheds from many members of the camp, but a ghost in the daylight during deer season. On December 9th, 2016, I finally had a chance to make a shot on this impressive Georgia buck. I was hunting with my buddy Robert Moeller that I brought down as a guest. It was a cold 27-degree Friday morning at 8:25 a.m. when I caught a glimpse of a buck making its way down a hardwood ridge to the bottom and than out of sight before I could get a good look at what he was. He was about 90 yards out and quartering away through some thick. I thought I missed my chance on a shooter. I sat tight in good hopes that he would come back my way so I could get a shot. Around 9:10 a.m. three does came down the same ridge making their way to the bottom eating acorns. As soon as the three does reached the bottom, I saw a that shooter buck come back from where he disappeared. He was shaking that beautiful rack as he headed toward me and the feeding does. At 85 yards with my Browning .270 I made a shot that would drop him in his tracks. I let out a yell that would curl your hair! I did not know how big he was or if he was White Sox's, but I new he was a trophy. When I walked up on him I realized I had finally shot White Sox's! I got on one knee and prayed to the good man upstairs. What a hunt!! What a story! Blessed!
