Hunt Story
Macsen and I hunted hard last weekend, only seeing a doe last Sunday evening. I encouraged him to to patient, that we would see a buck for him to shoot soon. I went and put more corn out on Thursday and noticed that the deer have been making several scrapes in the area, and I decided I’d make a mock scrape and hang a dripper in the tree to see if that would increase daylight movement. Saturday morning came and I got him up just after 5 am and he was ready to go! He stated that he had painted us a picture of a buck for good luck and he was ready to kill a buck. We eased in the woods and got settled in our blind about an hour before daylight. Macsen was back asleep within minutes of settling down.. and right at about 7:15 a.m. we had a buck feeding in front of us. I woke Macsen up and we positioned ourselves for him to take a shot. The buck slowly walked off before he could get a clear picture of the buck in the scope and luckily for us, another buck pushed him back in our direction. They then were both feeding in front of us and macsen made sure he saw the biggest one in his scope. He made sure that he could see a clear picture of the buck and I eased the safety down for him. I told him to make sure he had a good shot and to take his time, then BOOM.. he dropped it right where it stood. The joy and excitement that moment brought to him will be something that I cherish forever!
