Hunt Story

I was planning to hunt that morning, but it was rainy, windy and cold. The sun came out mid-morning and the wind picked up. I knew the buck was in the area, but was concerned because the wind was blowing pretty hard. My husband always tells me that those big boys will mess up eventually so I decided to get in my blind. I figured I'd be protected from at least some of the wind. A young buck came in first. He was limping and I watched him for a few minutes and he suddenly took off. I didn't see any other deer. Eventually a doe came in from my left and I started watching her. As she came closer I looked to my right and saw another deer. I looked through my binoculars and saw that it was the big 8 I had been seeing on camera. I put down the binoculars, aimed through several trees, decided it was now or never and took a shot. I saw his tail go out straight, he ran about 10 yards and fell. I waited a few minutes, prayed that he wouldn't get up and went to check him out. He wasn't moving and all I could think about was that yes, those big boys do mess up eventually!
