Hunt Story

I always check the direction of the wind before hunting my stand on the south end of the property. This particular morning I thought there was gonna be a south wind, but when I got to my stand the wind was calm. I wasn't out there long when the winds did start and was blowing out of the north. I knew that was not a good wind direction to be in my stand. There were other hunters on the property that I didn't want to disturb, so instead of heading out and home, I decided to wait it out so the others could finish their hunt. I had then picked up my phone to play cards and that was when the buck came running out of the wood line, directly downwind of me. He ran across my shooting lane, directly under my stand and into the woods behind me. I grabbed my rifle and knew that he was about to get away. I whistled twice in an attempt to stop him and that failed. It was then that I yelled HEY, and he had stopped at about 75 yards away giving me a shot at him.
