Hunt Story

The morning of the 24th we had a little chill in the air and evidence of early gutting activities. I chose an area where I could cover a lot of ground, after seeing a nice deer the day before in thick timber that never presented a shot. After an hour of enjoying a beautiful sunrise, the deer started moving. First a couple of does and fawns, then a spike and small 8. Then a few more does with the small bucks checking them out. After ten minutes or so of that, I heard a buck growl or loud grunt a good ways off. I turned my attention that way. Within a couple minutes I saw this 8-point headed towards the small 8-point. Head down in assault mode. I didn't waste a lot of time taking a shot because he was definitely a mature buck and I liked him. I thank God that I'm able to enjoy his creation. The great outdoors.
