Hunt Story

On Wednesday afternoon I made my second trip to the deer stand for 2019. I finished up work about one o'clock for the day. Cold front & breeze is what I'd been waiting for, conditions were good for the area I planned to hunt. Settled in a lockon about 3:45 in a dried up food plot in an area where we had a couple really good bucks on camera. Immediately started seeing deer. One doe at 4 o'clock, another couple does around 5:30. Then about ten til 6 this buck slipped up the edge of the food plot. After several minutes of waiting to get a good look at him, he moved into an opening and I decided to take a shot. He was 5 yards away from the base of the tree, I shot, he bolted. Gave him about an hour before tracking him. My arrow didn't pass through but we had good blood. After a couple hours we decided to pull off & let him lay till the next morning. We got back on the track about 10 o'clock the next day. We tracked him about 350 yards with a great Bassett hound named lucky. The dry conditions made it pretty tough. We pulled out again. I Made a call to Nick Skinner, he said all we can do is try. After two men, another dog, and 20 hours we were still at it. We finally put him in the truck about 5 o'clock. My best bow buck yet. Thanks for the help guys.
