Hunt Story
It was raining and we were late getting to the woods. I could see a little around 6:15/6:30 AM. With the rain, it was helping me stay quiet walking through the woods. I got up in the tree and got situated and saw movement in front of me. I got my binoculars and it was a big buck. He made his way to my right through some trees, so I swung my feet around the lock-on I was sitting in and waited for a shot. He was quartered away and I had to make a decision to get a shot off. I pulled the trigger and I knew I hit him. He was limping so I was worried that I didn't make a good shot. He stayed close by and I could see his head through some limbs with my binoculars. He stayed standing and I knew I needed to get another shot in him to put him out of his misery. I was able to sneak down out of my stand with the help of the rain. I crept up to where I could see him again. I got behind a tree and put my gun up. I was able to get another shot off and dropped him instantly. My first shot was too far back but my second shot was perfect. Thank goodness I was able to harvest this deer. We usually don't get many second chances.
