Hunt Story

I had an opportunity to shoot this buck opening day, but some does foiled me trying to draw on him. He stayed on pattern all week, and came back in Saturday the 16th. He came directly downwind of me, but I've been smoking all my clothes and gear with hickory and hardwood smoke for some time, and he wasn't able to figure out my scent. He stood licking his nose, maybe 20-30 times, at about 30 yards trying to get my wind. The smoke smell fooled him, he calmed, and came in and gave me a 24-yard broadside shot. He was a healthy buck, weighing 192 pounds, which is great for a suburban Athens buck. Also of interest, I shot this buck about a mile from where I arrowed my 2016 P&Y buck I entered in last year's Truck Buck contest. Thanks for all you guys do!
