Hunt Story

Hurricane Helene had wrecked Worth County & the surrounding counties the night before. Everyone was stressed after the storm from no sleep, the aftermath & clean up. I decided to go sit in my stand that afternoon to just get away, collect my thoughts & relax. I was not expecting to see anything due to the wind. Within 2 minutes of getting in my stand, 2 small bucks walked by. An hour later around 6:45 a pretty doe walked up & was grazing. I sat watching her for a while & then this buck “Merl” as I call him walked up from behind me to meet the doe, sniffed her & the started grazing. The shot I had perfectly lined up with my crossbow at 15 yards. I was so excited. I said a mini prayer & pulled the trigger. The buck & doe ran off. I contacted my husband, waited a while & climbed down to check my arrow for blood. Success!!! “My first bow buck” I was thrilled. My friends came & helped me track my buck, about a 100 yards from my stand. I took my buck to the processor to mount. It was truly an amazing experience.
