Hunt Story
Had a previous encounter with this buck the Wednesday afternoon, he came in right at last light and I had to let him pass. He showed back up that Friday morning on my cellular trail cam at 8 a.m. I went Saturday morning and while I was walking in to my blind my phone went off, and it had a picture of him in the privet hedge bottom just a couple hundred yards below my blind. I knew I wouldn't be able to get in my blind without spooking any deer around him, so I just sat on top of the ridge looking down into the creek bottom. At first light I saw four doe come out of the creek, and a few minutes later I saw him down there breaking privet branches with his rack. I had about a 225-yard free-handed shot downhill but placed it right in his front shoulder, and he didn't go 30 yards before piling up.
