Hunt Story
Rain was supposed to be moving in, and it was hot and muggy. I went in a little bit late because the main reason I went was to reposition my portable for an a long afternoon hunt. On the way back to my portable, I decided to stop and sit in a old ladder stand on the roadway. I only sat for about 30 minutes before climbing down. As I made my way to within 20 yards of the tree my climber was on, I kicked down the weeds to make the path out a little easier. At that time a basket 8 took off through the pines out of sight. Seconds later, a doe, a small buck, and the buck I shot bounced out through the pines to about 100 yards away where they then stopped and looked back. Upon seeing the buck, I recognized him from trail-cam pics. Earlier in the season I had decided I wasn't going to shoot the buck, but he sure looked tall through the scope. Well it doesn't matter now, I went ahead and popped 'em and don't regret it. Was tired of letting deer go all season
