Hunt Story

I take a week of vacation the second week of November every year. I had seen a few nice bucks but nothing I wanted to take. I hunted countless hours. One day mid last week I was climbing down with my climber around 11:00 a.m. I was about halfway down the tree and in the distance I saw where I had jumped two deer that were bedded down. I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a decent buck. I went the rest of week without seeing any shooters (bucks). I had two vacation days schedule for the week after which was Thursday and Friday. I got into the stand around 3:20 p.m. 11/21/19 Thursday. I wasn’t seeing any deer, so every so often I’d rattled, grunted or bleat. Nothing for awhile, then later tried a few bleats around 5 p.m. This 9-pointer came in but was not running. I tried to stop him to get a shot while he was still, but he wasn’t stopping. So I shot him as he was on the move. Made a good shot. He tried to run toward the creek but didn’t go far.
