Hunt Story

Well this story starts this summer when we did our camera survey. This buck had never been seen before and was a wicked looking deer. We had two pictures of it, but it was spotted 3 miles away on our neighbor's property, so we would never expect him to show up at our property. Hunting season rolls around, and we have had rain and it was raining on this hunt. We had just left New Smyrna and were on the way to hunt in Thomaston. When we got to our camp, we were planning where to hunt, and I said I would go to west box and hunt there cause that's my lucky stand. I got up at about 3:30. The hunt was very slow at first, but at about 5 the first deer came out behind me at 180 yards, it was a young doe. She kept looking behind her, so I watched her careful, and then out of no where she ran off. Then at 150 yards two fawns popped out and followed her. Then the hunt went quiet again. At about 5:25 the doe popped out again behind me, and she was very nervous, so I watched her very carefully. Then out of no where a big buck popped out across the creek at 218 yards and was feeding but was not going to stay long, so I put my gun out and looked at him for about 10 seconds and saw he was 4 1/2 and has a nice rack. I knew he was a shooter, so I pulled the trigger on my .308 rifle. He popped up and landed on his back feet and his front were dragging behind him. I called my dad saying that I shot a nice buck and was going to go look for blood. I got down and went down the hill crossed the creek and went up the other side and got to where I shot him. I found where he was when I shot cause the grassed area was pushed down from where he dragged his legs and front end of his body. I went to the side of the food plot and looked for blood and found a drop of blood on the ground. I kept following the blood trail until I came to the creek where he was. He was in a little creek about 30 yards off the food plot and 35 yards from where I shot him. I looked at his rack and then pulled my phone out and went to the photo of big daddy and looked at him and then at the photo and saw it was BIG DADDY! I was amazed. I called my dad very fast and told him big daddy was dead, I shot him. He was just as surprised as me cause this deer was only spotted 3 miles away, and he came out on our land. I could not believe it. I couldn't get it through my mind that I killed big daddy. And I couldn't believe that I shot and killed him, the shot was perfect! It went right though the shoulder and through the heart. This buck was a dream, and I did a little prayer to God thanking him for this amazing deer he had provided me with. This buck was a 14-point 4 1/2-year-old deer that I had a dream for. My family came, and they were so amazed and exited!
