Hunt Story
Josie Holbrook, 12 years old from Dawsonville, killed this heavy 8-point in the mountains of Lumpkin County near Dahlonega. She woke her dad up at 5:15 dressed and ready to go. Her dad had told her if she wanted to go that they would have to leave early because they had a long steep walk to get back to where they needed to hunt. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she got a shot at this awesome north Georgia mountain deer at around 10 a.m. He was making a rub on a cedar tree about 45 yards directly behind her. It was a challenge to get turned around and make a shot on the deer because she was hunting from the ground and the deer was a little bit higher than her, elevation wise. So proud of her!
