Hunt Story

Got my first pictures of this deer on November 10th. He showed back up on the 11th, and then again on the 12th at 4:30 a.m. headed to a bedding area. With lots of does in the area and a good wind I figured I had a good chance to see him before dark. I got in the stand early and he was the first deer I saw about 3:30. He came cruising straight out of the creek bottom and stopped at about 85 yds. I made a good quartering away shot and the deer jumped straight up and ran back where he came from looking like he was going to fall over any second. To my surprise when I walked down to recover the deer there was no blood. I looked in the direction he ran but couldn't find anything. I called my dad to help and we still didn't have any luck. I was confident in my shot and the deers reaction so I called Colby Garrett with Garrett Tracking services. He came with his dog Jager and we were able to recover the deer dead maybe 80 yds from where he was shot. That was Jagers 4th successful track of the day. Harvested him from the same stand as my 2022 Truck Buck Entry.
