Hunt Story

I originally got a picture of this deer on 11/04/2020, and he showed up just before the end of shooting light. I was able to hunt a few times but never saw him. He showed back up 11/09/2020 on camera in the middle of the night. I woke up on 11/10/2020 with plans to hunt the afternoon. The wind wasn’t the best but after seeing deer on camera pretty much all morning into the early afternoon I decided to go even with the wind not being the best for the stand. After using some buck muscle apple candy the previous week, I threw the empty bag in my trash can. The can has smelled like apples since. So I decided to carry a small zip lock bag of it to the box stand. I poured it all along the window opening to try and cover some of my sent. If it’s strong enough to cover a smelly trash can surely it can cover my scent a little. After that I was settled in around 3:35. Not long after, I heard a grunt really close. Soon after a button buck came out first. He caught wind of the buck muscle apple candy and he stayed in the field. Moments later this 8pt came out of the thick stuff. I knew from the pictures during the day that the weather, although not favorable, would have deer moving. I shot this deer at 3:48 pm just minutes after settling in the stand. It’s not a giant. But he’s my biggest!
