Hunt Story

I haven’t hunted this particular spot all year. The stand is underneath a white oak tree. I just knew that he was in there. White oak acorns have started dropping and deer will abandon all other food sources to go for those acorns, so I eased up in there. I took my time getting to my stand. I wasn’t sitting there 15 minutes when I saw a doe. I was sitting there watching her. Then all of the sudden I saw him!!!! I couldn’t even shoot him I was so nervous! I had my gun on him but I was shaking, so I didn’t make a shot. They disappeared in some thick stuff for a minute and I just knew I had lost the deer of a lifetime. I saw her come out of the thick and I told myself I was going to get it together and take him. It was perfect! I had took a breath, raised my rifle, he presented himself beautifully. He was 60 yards away broadside. I hit him right in the sweet spot. He came running toward me so put another one in his neck. He dropped immediately. I called my wife screaming. She was at Walmart with the kids. She was screaming in Walmart. Her and the kids and some buddies came out there. He’s a main frame 10 but could be 15 if you count his kickers and stuff. It was definitely one of the best days of my life. Like Roger Raglin says, I don’t know about you but I had a pretty good day!
