Hunt Story
We were hunting public land in Gilmer County. Hiked in 2 1/2 miles. My son and I were sitting on the ground between two huge downed trees. We were about to freeze to death. I was thinking the hunt was a wash because of the high wind, but from our left at about 60 yards I saw the buck slowly walking. “Shooter buck,” I said to my son. The buck was then gone.... My son grabbed his gun and shooting stick and waited. I thought the buck was gone, so I started to grunt and flip our can. I also sprayed some Buck Bomb up in to the air. Within a few minutes the deer came back into sight with his head thrown back and doing the lip curl. With in 30 seconds my boy shot him. The buck threw his legs over his head and ran up the hill then headed right back at us. That's when my boy shot him in the neck and he fell. The buck came to rest 30 yards away. We were both so excited! It has been almost a month since we saw a deer while hunting, and to see this buck was incredible. Joseph is 9 years old, and now with this buck killed more bucks than his 33-year-old dad. Best hunting and fishing partner I could ask for!
