Hunt Story

I have been watching this deer on my deer cam ever since July. He has always came to my feeder mainly through the nights late, 1 a.m. through 5 a.m. most of the times. But occasionally early morning daybreak or late evening just before dark. I have hunted my stand on an average of five days out of the week mornings and afternoons for the past three weeks. My friends have said several times that buck has me figured out and I will never see him. I disagreed. I told them there is two types of deer hunting. First type is deer hunting, and second type is hunting a deer. Well I made it very clear I was hunting a deer not deer hunting. I have been steady watching the deer cam during my times hunting, and he never showed up except late nights in the a.m. I hunted steady knowing that sooner or later he would show up early morning or late evening. I patiently waited. Deer cams don't lie. I had faith he would eventually show up. He did. Got to my stand Oct. 14 about 5:30 p.m., had four does show up around 6:30 p.m. on my feeder and acorns. After about 30 minutes of feeding, they all kept looking up through the woods as if they were watching something else. I knew they were looking at other deer feeding through the hardwoods, I just couldn't see. Just before 7 p.m. they all scattered. I knew at that time it had to be a good size buck coming in. I went ahead set up and got ready just in case it was. He stepped into range at 7 p.m. I was ready took the shot and he was down.
