Hunt Story

I was hunting at my dad's house in Pike County on 11/27/16. I had seen three deer earlier in the morning. I jumped one on the way to my stand and two separate spikes passed through the area. The wind picked up slightly and the leaves were steadily falling. Just before 9 a.m. two does ran out of the woods into my shooting lane, stopped and looked behind them. A few seconds later a good buck came running in behind the does. I knew he was a shooter, but I had to get him stopped in my shooting lane. I did a couple long loud grunt calls to get him to stop. He was at 125 yards quartering to me. As soon as he stopped I had the crosshairs on him and squeezed the trigger on my 270. He jumped, spun and fell to the ground! I was pumped! I had been hunting this same stand all week. I had been seeing a lot of young bucks and smaller does along with not being able to get a shot on another good buck Thanksgiving morning. It was a good Thanksgiving week for me!
