Hunt Story
I started the morning hunting in a different stand and sat until 9:00 or so. I went back to camp for a few minutes and decided I wanted to hunt a different stand from 10 to 1. I hadn't been seeing much movement during morning and evening hunts, so I figured I'd give midday a try. At approximately 10:30 a doe came running out of the bottom and stopped about 70 yards to my left in a pine clearing. I noticed right away she was looking behind her. Not even 20 seconds later, the buck runs up behind her and tries to breed her. I quickly took aim with my .280 and dropped him in his tracks. Five minutes later a doe came running back by and had a small 3-point chasing her. I needed the meat and decided to kill him as well. Both bucks died right beside each other. Needless to say, midday hunting is something more hunters should try if you aren't already.
