Hunt Story
Saw this buck for the last two months on camera but only at night at a different location on the other side of a hardwood bottom. I knew they were using the bottom for travel and bedding during the day so hung a new set about two weeks prior over an overgrown food plot with a lot of logging debris in it. A long rub line and scrape line on the ridge and trail coming up from bottom. Saw him once during bow season but did not get close enough. Then Sunday morning decided to take the rifle and get in long before daylight. It was a quiet morning and he was the only deer that came out. About 8 a.m. he stepped just onto the edge of the opening on the ridge edge checking a scrape. Pawed it twice hit a licking branch and turned to head back to bottom, that’s when I let the 270 loose and he was down within 15 yards!
