Hunt Story
I woke up early Saturday morning stepped out the back door and sprayed down in cover scent and started walking towards my stand. I tied my bow up and started climbing my stand. When I got up in it, I quietly got my safety strap out and got strapped in the stand. I slowly pulled my bow up then took an arrow out of the quiver and set it in rest. While sitting in the stand for an hour or so, I saw a couple of does in front of me. Then about 45 minutes later I caught a glimpse of something moving behind me. I turned around slowly to get a better look. I saw it about 5 yards away. I was about draw back then realized there was another buck with it. Slowly lifting binoculars up I saw that it was a smaller deer. I then turned to look at the first one that was now at about 15 yards away. While sitting down, I drew back and settled my 10-yard pin a little high then released my arrow and watched it hit the deer. I watched the deer go up the hill until I couldn't see it anymore. While being very excited, I text my dad and told him that I shot one. We decided to wait a little bit before getting down. After getting down, my dad and sister came out to meet me. We started looking for blood. For the first 60 yards we couldn't find any. Then, finally, we found the first drop. Then we followed the trail going up the hill. After tracking for about 160 yards, the blood trail stopped. We started walking around and my dad finally found more blood. Then we found the deer laying over with the arrow sticking out. We then called my brother and also my sister's boyfriend and told them about it. They both came over to help with the gutting. We pulled it out of the woods and started taking pictures. I also called my pappaw, who just started chemo, to tell him the good news. It was a great day getting my first bow kill!
