Hunter: John Brody Young
Points: 8 (4L, 4R)
We had a history with this buck from the year prior. My 7-year-old has his heart set on “Crazy” being his first buck. We knew he was frequently spotted during daylight hours in the area, so we knew exactly where to wait him out. After seeing him right at daylight and not being able to get a clean shot, we figured our opportunity had passed for the opening morning hunt. To my surprise, 30 minutes later, Crazy reappeared from a different area than he left, and gave us time to settle down, and make a good shot. John Brody dropped him at about 60 to 70 yards, and the celebration ensued. There is nothing like watching a kid harvest their first deer ever. And to have it be the one he wanted so badly, only made it that much sweeter.
