Hunt Story
I had only been sitting in the stand for 20 minutes when the buck showed up. I was hunting in a double seater ladder stand. The stand did not have a blind, so I had bought one a few months prior to put up. A couple minutes after starting on the blind, I heard the crackling of leaves. I immediately stopped and grabbed my gun. A minute later the deer appeared leaving an area of thick cover 50-70 yards away from me. He was heading my way. After only a couple of quick minutes, the deer presented me a shot at 30 yards. A shot to the lower neck dropped him where he stood. The buck is a mature 3 1/2 year old, to the best of my knowledge. I am having the taxidermist take a look at his jaw bone to more accurately verify that. He has 7 points including a really cool crab claw and weighed 203 lbs. He did not seem to have the genes of say a Boone and Crockett, but he is certainly a trophy none the less.
