Hunt Story

I hunted Friday night and all day Saturday. I figured the deer would be moving with the cold front coming in. On Saturday alone I missed a coyote, let an 8, 7, 6, and 5-pointer plus several does walk. I had just been videoing a 5 and a 7 eating, and was scoping a couple of big bodied deer walking along a stream to my left. The sun was setting to my right, so it was hard to see. I glanced to my right with my hand cupped around my eye to block the sun. He was walking fast right toward me, then turned to his left and started going up a hill. I swung quickly to my right, confirmed he was a shooter and took a shot. First shot was in the shoulder, so I quickly bolted another round and hit him again with the sun right in my optics. He walked about 10 yards from first shot and expired. Beautiful deer! Our herd is doing so well. Make sure they have lots of food during the offseason, don’t shoot everything that walks, and we are careful about pressuring on the property.
