Hunt Story
Rain was forecasted to break at 4:30, so I went to my blind about 4:20. The rain actually got harder and didn’t slack up until 5:15 p.m. I had seen a group of small bucks earlier, but they got spooked and went back across the creek to my right. A couple minutes later a group of 5 or 6 does came down the ridge from my left and started eating on my pile of SWI Supreme Attrax. They were eating and the small dear were playing when I caught a glimpse of movement in some thick brush. He walked out and I watched him for 15 minutes before he finally came across the creek and into bow range. After a couple minutes of him eating, I was able to draw and make a perfect 30-yard shot. He ran 60 yards and fell. I knew the shot was good, and after a few minutes I walked down and checked the arrow. It was soaked in blood. I crossed the creek and could see the white belly up the hill. He ran 60 yards. I had gotten to half draw on this deer back on December 10th, but he was spooked by a doe that had come in behind me and stomped. Had trail-cam pics of him since mid October but actually moved out of the area for most of November.
