Hunt Story

We live in the Lake Spivey area of Jonesboro, in a very residential area. My home has a pocket of low bottoms and a creek on several acres. We hunt the creek bottom. I had hunted hard for weeks seeing several smaller bucks, does, and yearlings directly behind my house. Seeing this deer on camera about once a week from early September through the day I shot him. He seemed to always fool me with the exception of this day. He came barreling in upwind from me. Smelled the estrus scent I had out and backed away immediately. I thought the hunt was over when he approached from my left and began to browse. There was brush in front of him and I didn't know if I'd get a clean shot, noise was made behind him and he began to move, presented a quartering-to shot, I took it and he took off!! We found him after tracking for 4 1/2 hours. It was an adrenaline filled evening. Clayton County archery buck and a happy hunter.
