Hunt Story
I had an encounter with this deer the morning before I killed him. He came out approximately 100 yards and I couldn’t tell how wide he was. I knew he was mature enough but Dooly County has width restrictions, so I wasn’t able to shoot without verifying. I stopped the deer with a grunt but he still wouldn’t look, so I snort wheezed and he looked. Before I could get a shot he disappeared. He walked out on another club member who missed him at 20 yards. The next morning I moved down the creek bottom about 500 yards and luckily he came in again running two does. I was able to make a good shot and he went down.
