Hunt Story
Caught the buck on camera one time in August of last year and did not see him again during the season. He showed up again this year on camera multiple times beginning in early October on several trail cameras spread over our 560 acre tract. All of the pics & videos were at night. On 11/9/22, I hunted the West side of a long hardwood ridge that paralleled a 5 year re-planted clear-cut on a strong Northeast wind. At 8AM, a doe appeared and stood directly under me. As I was looking straight down at the doe, I happened to glance to my right through a small opening, and the buck was standing there 20 yards behind. I made the shot and it was over. I knew the deer was all over our property but could not believe he actually showed up in front of me when I was on the stand! What a day.
