Hunt Story
I had been in the stand since approximately 5:15 p.m. Around 6:45, three does came in behind me and scented me. They stood still, stomping for about 10 minutes before busting out and blowing at me. It was a little discouraging, but I also knew according to trail-cam pics that I had twodifferent shooter bucks coming in regularly after 7:30 p.m. I had a raccoon under my Boss Buck Gravity feeder, when all of a sudden he spots something to my right and scurries off. I've always known this to be a good indication of a deer coming. Sure enough, I spot the deer through the trees working his way in. I immediately see that it is one of the shooters. I watched him stop a couple times and lick a branch and make a scrape. I grabbed my bow from the hanger as he goes behind a tree. As soon as he hit the opening that I have already ranged at 25 yards, I came to full draw and took the broadside shot. My arrow hit his shoulder and he took off. I thought I heard him crash but I know better than to rush recovery and take a chance so I gathered my things and backed out. I came back around midnight and walked straight to where I thought I heard him crash, and there he was. Perfect heart shot with my Hoyt Carbon Spyder and major damage done by the Rage Trypan broadhead. My best bow buck to date!
