Hunt Story
I got in the woods that morning about 30 minutes before daylight. I was getting ready to get down at 10 o’clock and three small bucks were all chasing the same doe. Just a little after 11 AM the buck that I was after walked under my stand, but he got by me too fast and I could not pull the shot off. He was on a mission on the trail that hot doe had been on an hour earlier. I just kept sitting there telling myself that I needed to be patient and hang in there since the hot doe was in the area, and sure enough about an hour and 30 minutes later the buck came back within 40 yards of where I was sitting trailing that doe this time. I figured he would definitely continue walking on the same trail she was on, so I went ahead and ranged her and he ended up stopping exactly where I needed him to in order to be able to pull the shot off. He ended up running about 75 yards. Within five minutes after shooting him one of the small 8-pointers was already back on her tracks. Great hunt. Lots of rutting action.
