Hunt Story

Janie and her granddaddy, Joe Keith, crawled up in a box stand at 3:45. They saw a total of nine bucks and 17 does during the hunt. One of the does came out at the top of the hill and two of the smaller bucks were in hot pursuit, old big boy could not resist the chase. His path led him right in front of Janie's stand, about 50 yards out. He never stopped walking, so Janie had to take the shot on the move. Making a perfect shot, he ran about 20 yards and fell dead in his tracks. Janie is no stranger to GON, as she was in the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out when she was 9. Her Uncle Bill has always been the one to take her hunting, being by her side for every shot. He was a huge influence in her life, instilling in her a true love for the outdoors and all things hunting. Unfortunately, he passed away last year from COVID, changing all of our lives dramatically. Janie could not bring herself to pull the trigger last year, but decided with her granddaddy by her side, she wanted to hunt again. Needless to say, when that buck went down. there was a lot of tears shed and an angel smiling down from heaven.
