Hunt Story
Opening morning of black powder/ youth gun season is a prime time to kill a mature buck in southeast Georgia. After months of scouting, my son Jake was extremely excited to be in the woods. After easing into the stand and waiting for daylight, the action started. Seeing little bucks chasing and grunting, we knew it wouldn't be long before a mature buck stepped out. Jake spotted the big 8 as he stepped into the road only to watch him immediately take off after a doe. The excitement was at an all-time high watching the buck run the doe all over the place. Finally the buck presented a broadside shot. Jake executed a perfect shot dropping the buck in his tracks. The 7.5 year old buck weighed 202 pounds.
