Hunt Story

Jackson and I were hunting in a buddy ladder stand and getting ready to leave around 9:45. We heard footsteps and saw horns! He got ready with his great grandfather's Sears and Roebuck iron sight 30-30. The buck walked into a shooting lane and stopped. I asked if he thought he could make the shot, it was 85 yards away! He said yes and I gave him the green light. He pulled the hammer back and made the shot. We waited till we regained composure and climbed down. He immediately found blood and the track was on. He did his own track job and found the once 10-pointt “broken g4” piled up in the hardwood bottom. With a quick call to his grandpa to tell him to get down out of his tree stand and head our way, the celebration was on. For an 8-year-old’s first deer, to say he was over the moon is an understatement!! Proud father, and grandfather
