Hunt Story

I had been working with my chain saw for about 2 hours within 1/4 mile of ground blind. At 4:30, I drove 4-wheeler to within 50 yards of ground blind and was in blind at at 4:35PM. The food plot is on a firebreak between two , 9-year-old growths from clearcut. I had shot a nice 7-point 2 years ago at at 150 yards from blind, so I rested rifle on front of blind, and kept my eye to the scope, because if a buck came, it might cross plot in a hurry. I concentrated on the 150-yard area, and all of a sudden I noticed movement about 40 yards from blind and quickly sighted in to this deer and noticed a very nice wide rack. He was angling almost directly away from me, so I grunted, and he stopped, and turned his front toward me, and I immediately shot him in the neck, dropping him in his tracks. I notified my Grandson, and he wanted to help me get the deer to camp and my truck. I waited 20 minutes for his arrival, wanting to have both of us see the actual rack at the same time. This was a special time to share with him, and I was surprised that it was an 11-point buck. Pictures were taken on scene, and also in back of truck.
