Hunt Story

I climbed in my lock-on stand at 4:44 p.m. that Friday afternoon. The temperature was about 96 degrees. There was no action in the woods for the first hour and a half. But a little after 6 p.m., four does came in to feed. They milled around about 30 minutes or so and moved on. After which a bachelor group of three juvenile bucks entered the clearing and began to feed. They fed around for about 45 minutes and then left. They returned about 10 minutes later to the clearing but their focus was on the tree line that I could not see from my stand position. The three smaller bucks where about 30 yards from my position acting nervously, so I knew something was coming so I stood up and removed my bow from the hanger. About the time I got my hand on my bow the three small bucks scattered. At 7:37 p.m., my heart was racing a mile a minute when I saw my buck enter the clearing, wind was blowing in my face, I was standing already bow in hand, he was 25 yards away perfect broadside shot. He dropped his head to eat, I drew placed my pin behind his shoulder and hit the release......... I watched him run off. And knew I hit him and the shot was a good one, so I waited 30 minutes climbed down and tracked the buck for about 30 yards and found him crashed out. One of my best hunts.
