Hunt Story
Me and my son Hutch saw this deer last season and elected to pass him thinking he was just a 3 year old and was hoping he would make it through to this season. He made it and we had a ton of pictures of him in July, August, and September. Hutch hunted him with a crossbow in September and October but the deer disappeared in early September. He showed back up in late December with a bad wound to his front left leg. we decided to go after him hard in fear that he wouldn't survive this winter. He was bedding close and coming right at dark to a food turnip, oats, and wheat plot we had. He finally showed up right before dark on 1-2-25 and Hutch shot him at 30yds with his 243. The deer was so run down from his injury that when he crashed he popped his right antler off. I figure he was probably going to shed early do to the injury. A friend approached us after with a video of where his buddy had shot the deer with a bow in late November about 3-4 miles straight line distance from were hutch killed the deer.
