Hunt Story
I got in my stand over my clover food plot at a good time and had seen deer throughout the whole morning. I looked up and saw this deer at 7:45 a.m. for the first time. His head was behind a tree, so I could only see his body at first. He turned away from me allowing me to see his full rack, and I realized it was the same deer that had showed up on my trail camera the week before. He trotted out of sight to my left. I saw a doe earlier, so I figured he was chasing that doe. About 30 minutes later, two does entered the food plot in front of me and began eating. They kept looking back in the woods, so I thought the buck was still in the area. The does then looked back into the woods, and trotted toward the direction they were looking. About 5 minutes later, three deer entered the food plot. One of them was this buck. The buck was walking in front of the does. I waited for him to walk in front of me, I grunted to stop him, and shot him with my Remington 700 .270 at about 100 yards at 8:40am. Twenty-three years ago, my dad was featured in the November 1997 GON issue after entering a 10-pointer in the Truck-Buck contest of 1996. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to take this buck and follow in the footsteps of my dad 23 years later.
