Hunt Story

On November the 10th my dad and I got to the stand that morning at 6:15. We saw a doe and a button right at daybreak. It was cold and windy, so my dad decided to get down at 9 a.m. to look for rubs and scrapes while we could use the wind to our advantage. On the way back to the truck my dad looked across the pond and saw a buck right in front of where we were just sitting, but could not tell how big because he was walking to fast. So we got back to the truck and decided to go back early that afternoon to see if he would come back out. We returned to the stand around 2:30 and were sitting for 30-45 minutes when we saw him coming about 200 yards away. He came to the water oak tree where we have seen a bunch of deer. He ate for a few minutes and finally gave me a broadside shot and I missed! He kinda of jumped and stopped and turned broadside again! I hit him that time, but back a little and he dropped, but he was still alive. So my Dad and I got down a got a little closer, and I shot him behind the shoulder and killed him! This was my first buck!
