Hunt Story
Last week was a pretty fun week hunting with my dad in Jones County. It started Thursday afternoon when I shot a nice 8-pointer about 10 minutes after I got off the school bus. Then Saturday afternoon I watched a big 12-pointer with a drop tine for close to 5 minutes in our back food plot. I never felt comfortable with the shot as he moved a lot and kept chasing does out of the plot. We went back Sunday morning and only saw does, but when dad checked cameras our oldest shooter had come out less then an hour after we climbed down. We got back in the stand early Sunday afternoon and didn’t see a deer til after 5:00, but we could tell it was a good buck circling through the pines heading to our back plot. When he finally came out into the plot and started feeding, my dad looked at him with his binos and told me he was our oldest shooter named Stretch and I need to shoot. It took a minute or two for him to move far enough to the left so I could see his shoulder good, then I made a good shot with my .270. It took us about 10 minutes to find blood but once we did he was only about 50 yards into some thick pines. Stretch is my 3rd buck and my biggest and oldest.
